At the beginning of the month, a few of our team members went on a little out-of-office excursion to visit one of our rewards partners – Cape Island. As anyone who is familiar with the brand will know, this visit was far from ordinary. What awaited us was not just an educational insight into one of South Africa’s most beloved brand names, but also a brief escape into the delightful world of magical products that took us on an extraordinary journey, while simultaneously making us feel at home.

First Impressions
As soon as we arrived at the location and their team so graciously welcomed us in, we were hit with a wave of aromatic bliss. The symphony of scents seemed to tell stories of exotic locations, serene landscapes, and cosy evenings, and with each different fragrance, we were transported to times in our lives that hold our fondest memories.
We had the chance to smell the large variety of candles, hand creams, diffusers, liquid soaps, lotions, and room sprays currently on offer. As we took in and embraced the various scents, we found ourselves enjoying each one more than the last.
Cape Island’s Wondrous Collection
Cape Island’s impressive collection consists of African Storm, Black Gold, Clifton Beach, Safari Days, Summer Vineyard, West Coast, and Celebration, with each one telling a unique story of Africa. Allowing our sense of smell to lead the way, we found ourselves transported from the African cliffs and oceans to the vast array of flat, open land, with imagery of our continent’s incredible mountains, rivers and valleys breaking through and inducing heartfelt emotions and memories along the way.
What Was Our Favourite?
Unanimously, the SweepSouth team favoured the Clifton Beach collection with its top notes of sun-warmed coconut, sea salt, and refreshing lime. Not only did we adore the scents, but the designs and packaging also became a hot topic of conversation. Every detail seen in their imagery radiates luxury and elegance, with all packaging made to be reusable, making these items perfect for your home and gift-giving.
How Cape Island Gives Back
At SweepSouth, we love local, making Cape Island a perfect rewards partner as all designs are African and all products are made on African soil. Despite that, we also love their exemplary generosity in donating a percentage of proceeds from selected candles and room sprays to local non-profit organisations, with each collection supporting a different organisation.

As the visit reached its end, we left Cape Island not just with fragrant souvenirs but also with a renewed sense of pride and connection to our African roots. The experience was a vivid reminder of the beauty that lies in exploring and supporting local craftsmanship.
